IndiGo flight issued a ‘Mayday’ alert because of low fuel levels and landed safely, according to sources.

Budget airline IndiGo’s flight from Guwahati to Chennai, which had 168 passengers on board, executed an emergency landing in Bengaluru after the pilots issued a ‘mayday’ alert, according to sources. This event occurred just one week following the crash of an Air India Dreamliner flight to London shortly after its departure from Ahmedabad.

The incident transpired on Thursday, resulting in the pilots being removed from duty.

The Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner made a mayday call shortly before it crashed around midday on June 12, erupting into a fireball upon colliding with residential structures. The IndiGo aircraft, which was critically low on fuel, successfully landed in Bengaluru.

On Friday, an Indigo flight bound for Madurai experienced a technical issue while in the air and requested permission to return to Chennai for landing, as reported by sources. The aircraft, which was carrying approximately 68 passengers, landed safely, and all passengers were deplaned with appropriate safety protocols in place, sources further stated.
