Covid-19 cases have also surged in Delhi; however, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has emphasized that there is “no need to worry.” Kerala remains one of the most affected states, reporting 430 Covid-19 cases. In Karnataka, a senior official from the health department reported that an elderly man, who tested positive for Covid-19, passed away in a hospital located in Belagavi district. The deceased, a 70-year-old man, died from acute cardiorespiratory arrest accompanied by encephalopathy and late-onset seizures, which were associated with diabetes, hypertension, ischemic heart disease, and a positive Covid-19 status. On May 17, an 84-year-old man with significant comorbidities died at a private hospital in Whitefield, Bengaluru, with his Covid-19 test results returning positive posthumously.
